Splin

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 November 2026

Splin is an app for splitting rent and shared expenses in groups: a home, a trip, an event, a couple or any other group. It is made by Sysprola Tech ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.

What we collect

InformationWhy
Your email address and password (stored only as a secure hash)To sign you in, to confirm your address with a one-time code when you create an account or reset your password, and to contact you about your account.
If you continue with Google: your Google account's email address and name (and Google's account ID for you)To sign you in without a password. We don't get your Google password or anything else from your Google account.
Your display nameSo the people in your groups can see who paid and who owes what.
Group details: name, type (home, travel, event, couple or other), currency, invite code, and for homes the monthly rent and the date rent started, or for trips and events their dates To set up your groups and work out rent periods, due dates and trip or event totals.
Expenses and payments you or others in your groups add: names, categories, amounts, dates, who paid and how each one is split, and recurring bills (amount, how often and who shares them) To calculate balances and who owes whom, and to add recurring bills automatically on their dates.
Receipt photos, only if you choose to add one to an expense So everyone in that group can see the receipt. Photos are stored privately and only people in that group can view them.
Payment-app usernames you choose to add (Venmo, Cash App, Monzo or PayPal) So people in your groups who owe you can open that app with your name and the amount filled in. Splin never handles or sees the payment itself.
If you subscribe to Splin Premium: the Google Play purchase details (a purchase token, plan, status and renewal date) To check the purchase with Google and remove ads for your group. Google handles the payment; we never see your card or bank details.
Notification preferencesTo remember which reminders and summaries you want.
A push notification token for your phone (if you allow notifications) To send you notifications about new expenses, payments, payment reminders from people in your groups, rent reminders and monthly summaries.

Usage analytics (only if you allow it)

The app asks once whether you want to share anonymous usage data, and you can change your answer any time in Settings → Share usage data. Nothing is collected unless you say yes. If you do, we use Google Analytics for Firebase to learn things like which screens and features are used (for example "an expense was added with an equal split"), along with the app version, device model, operating system and approximate country. These analytics events never include your name, email address or any amounts.

Ads

Splin is free with ads, shown by Google AdMob. Groups with Splin Premium see no ads. To show and measure ads, Google may collect your phone's advertising ID, approximate location (from your IP address), device and app information, and how you interact with ads. We never give advertisers your name, email address or any of your groups' data.

In the UK and EU, Google asks for your consent before showing personalised ads, and you can change your choice later. Everywhere, you can limit ad personalisation or reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings (on Android: Settings → Google → Ads). See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

Some settings never leave your phone: your theme choice (light or dark) and whether App lock is on. If you use App lock, Face ID, fingerprint or passcode checks are done by your phone's operating system; we never receive your biometric data.

The camera is used only when you take a receipt photo or scan a group's invite QR code; scanned codes are not stored. We do not collect your contacts, location, photos other than receipts you choose to add, or payment card or bank details.

Who can see your information

We do not sell your information or share your groups' data with advertisers or data brokers. Ads are chosen and shown by Google AdMob as described under Ads above.

How we protect it

Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database and storage rules ensure you can only read groups you belong to, and every change is checked on the server. Passwords are stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form. Email codes expire after one hour and work only once.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while your account exists. When you delete your account, see Delete your account for exactly what is removed and what stays.

Your choices and rights

Children

Splin is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
